Following the successful experience of the Summer School in Porto and the Visiting Barragán program in Mexico City, Porto Academy aims now to a new Visiting School entitled 'Visiting Versailles integrating ´Visible Invisible' exhibition curated by Nicolas Dorval-Bory and Guillaume Ramilien for the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Versailles during the Biennale of Landscape and Architecture of the Île-de-France Region, that will take place from May 13, 2022 to July 13, 2022 in the City of Versailles.
Porto Academy 'Visiting Versailles will happen from the 6th to the 13th July 2022 and it will be focused on the different scales of the city and its relation with the Planet Earth.
Talking about cities and its development reminds us to think not only about growth and production but also about building and the direct impact it has on the social and economic way of living in the world.
Taking Architecture into consideration as a discipline with very different ranges of interventions which go from Buildings to Furniture, and definitely including Landscape, Urbanism, Energy, but also Sociology and Economics. The program will enable for future inquiry and consciousness of the dialogue between City and Earth, 'the architecture of the Anthropocene through the visible and invisible matter’.
Porto Academy is the result of an enormous passion for architecture as a discipline. Porto Academy started in 2013 as a manifesto of pluralism and opportunity based on close tuition from a diverse range of architects, artists and curators.It is an alternative educational experience, unburdened by established rules or dogmas, where students learn first hand from the singular visions of practice exemplified by invited tutors.
Porto Academy has created a truly global community of students and practitioners over the past years. Around 1900 participants from 88 different nationalities have participated in the Porto Academy programs.
Our invited lecturers and guests have come from a wide range of origins and fields of action with more than 160 invited guests from 26 different nationalities.Porto Academy organized 9 Summer Schools so far plus 2 Visiting Schools: Visiting Barragán in Mexico City and Visiting Kahn and Venturi Scott Brown in Pennsylvania (online due to the pandemic). Besides the Academic programs, Porto Academy has also organized lectures and workshops on different venues.
